The Roots of my life go back as far as my Great Grandfather.  Gardening is a gene that has been passed down in my family from generation to generation.  It serves as a metaphor for life.  Deep strong roots keep you firmly grounded in tradition, passion and happiness!

For years, I have served as a helpful role to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. In 2020,  I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our society. I founded A farm girls life! with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and it has been a wild success ever since.

Christmas Joy

Updated: Jan 2, 2021

Hey there my friend's! Life has been crazy busy for me! How about you! I've been trying to get my Christmas shopping done but I'm not quite there. How about all of you? Are you ready for Christmas 🎄! I don't think I'm ever prepared but Christmas comes and goes whether we are ready or not! In the middle of all the craziness I really try to keep our focus on the true meaning of Christmas! I like to calm everyone down and focus on the fact that very quietly God sent Jesus into the world as a tiny baby! Except for the Sheppards, the Wiseman and then, of course king Herod, no one knew! It was a quiet miracle! My little guys had never heard the story so I keep quizing about who was Mary, who was Joseph, was baby Jesus born in a hospital? And so on! They will eventually get it! I pray over them and with them and I know God answers prayers! So I've been trying to get other things accomplished too before Christmas. My Shi-poo needed grooming and the boys needed hair cuts and I need my hair worked on too. So I was trying to make all these phone calls and get everybody scheduled. It was almost 5:00 and I was trying to catch people before they closed for the day! Anyway I was on the phone with my hair dresser and the building 2 stores down from them had just collapsed. It was on the southeast corner of the Nevada square. So I made the appointments and then the next day the Lady who does our hair called to say she tested positive for covid. She suggested that another stylist could possibly do the boys! So yesterday my boys went back to school, both of them, finally! Right before I left the house to go get them the phone rings! It's their preschool calling to tell us that someone else had tested positive for Covid and they have to shut down until the new year! Love it! After I picked them up from school 🏫 I was taking them for haircuts, ( I managed to get them in)! We stopped for ice cream first, ( I honestly don't know what I was thinking? I just gave the boys sugar before I took them out in public!) So we ate our ice cream in the car, then they wanted to see the building that fell down! They had it roped off so we couldn't get too close but they got to see it! Then we went into the shop for their haircuts. The lady who cut their hair was really good with them and the boys were being really good up to the point where Izaiah got done with his haircut! Then he decided he wanted to play shoot the bad guy! He threw something and started running around! I told him he could sit at the toy table and play quietly or he had to sit on the floor by me! He ended up sitting by me. Except he kept trying to crawl away and I kept dragging him back! When the stylist finished with his brother and I went to get my checkbook to pay her, they took the opportunity to run up and down the salon, ducking under things and hiding pretending to shoot each other! I had completely lost control! So I wrote my check as fast as I could and got their coats on them and out the door! The thing was, there was an older man and woman waiting and they were laughing at them! Once again everybody thought it was funny but me! I am so glad we could entertain them for the afternoon! The boys did serious time out when they got home! The thing is, they don't really know how to play quietly by themselves or even together. Their version of play is wrestling with each other and the older one gets the younger one in trouble all the time. This morning Tom, my husband, had some errands to run in town. We like to divide and conquer when we can! So he took Izaiah and I kept Jeremiah! Usually Jeremiah is good for me. Tom and Izaiah had just left and Jeremiah took a crayon 🖍 and marked on my kitchen counter! I couldn't believe it! This was my good boy! I yelled and got mad then put him in time out! I am such a great parent/grandparent! It was not one of my most stellar moments! To be honest I was miserable! These kids need constant supervision and they can't play by themselves! I've been on line a lot to find simple easy crafts for preschoolers. I also found an idea 💡 about making quiet boxes! Just little boxes with toys or crafts or whatever you can think of. So they can sit down with their box 📦 and use their imagination and learn to play on their own. So I spent the next hour making boxes or in my case I used zip locks! So far so good! Jeremiah seems to like it! Sometimes I even surprise myself! I hope your holidays are full of joy, even if your celebration looks different this year! Remember that this too will pass and if you keep your eye on the reason for the season, there you will find your joy! My birthday flowers!
