The Roots of my life go back as far as my Great Grandfather.  Gardening is a gene that has been passed down in my family from generation to generation.  It serves as a metaphor for life.  Deep strong roots keep you firmly grounded in tradition, passion and happiness!

For years, I have served as a helpful role to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. In 2020,  I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our society. I founded A farm girls life! with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and it has been a wild success ever since.

KEY West Vacation Continues - Day 3

Updated: Jan 6

We finally made it into Florida! Yay! The bad thing is we brought the cold temperatures with us. We stayed at a Comfort Inn in Lake Forrest. In the morning, when we walked out of our room, not only was it really cold but we saw our first Live Oak with moss dripping from it's branches! So we got back on the road! Florida actually has a great system of toll roads! So we were able to get on a toll road and fly. People drive really fast down here! The toll roads have really great rest stops where they have not just restrooms but also a big indoor area that has a variety of places to get food. Like Subway and Duncan donuts ect..

So when we left home we thought we had packed everything we needed. But of course we managed to forget some things. One of those things was my batteries and charger for my good camera! The other thing I needed was a new Camera Lens! The reason I wanted to go to the FLORIDA KEYS was to take sunset pictures. As a matter of fact I would have been completely happy if that was all we did and then came home!

Anyway, we found a place that sells photography supplies in Miami. We called them yesterday and they had what I needed. They said they would set it aside for me and yes they were open Sunday afternoons but we had to get there before 4:00 pm. Lucky for us they were right off highway 1. We just had to get there in time! We made it! The store is called Pittman Photography and they sold me the Mother of all camera lenses. We named her Big Bertha and she was not cheap. The man who helped me was so kind and helpful! I highly recommend Pittman Photography in Miami FL for all your camera needs! The other reason we wanted to get to the camera store by 4:00 was because my husband didn't want to drive on the overseas highway in the dark! We made it and drove most of it in day light. We were surprised by how many miles it was from Miami to Key West. We didn't think the drive was quite that long. Here are some pictures I took as we drove along!

We made it to the Fairfield Inn and Suites about 7:00 pm. It was a nice spacious room with a King size bed. It had a fridge, a microwave, a safe for valuables like cash and Big Bertha.

We were tired so we stayed in and ordered a pizza. The next day was Monday ,and we went out for the day to explore Key West! Talk to you later! FG Farm Girl
