Hey there all! Today I got started decorating for Christmas! I cleaned up my front porch over the weekend. I moved my pots around and brought some plants in to winter over in my basement! Then we moved my big Cobalt blue pots one on each side of my front door. I bought some little Blue Spruce at Walmart of all places and I potted them up in my blue pots. (After Christmas we will plant them!) Today I made some big florists bows in red and I wrapped the pots with ribbon and bows! I made more bows for my rocking chairs and my little toy sled! Then I made a couple for my front porch steps. I bought some inexpensive garland and lights, again at Walmart. So I borrowed an idea from a friend who is a wonderful designer. To get a custom look with lights she sprays them with spray paint while they are still in a cluster, right when they come out of the box. We floral designers like to use a brand called Design Master. It comes in all kinds of great colors and it's easier to spray and get a light touch. So today I decided to give her 💡 idea a try. I wanted burgundy but all I had was a color called 🍉 watermelon. So I sprayed my lights and lit up my garland. I wrapped my porch posts on each side of my steps. My husband helped and the lights turned out really cool. Then he got busy cleaning light fixtures and ceiling fans that we have on our porch. Then he asked me if I wanted to put colored light bulbs in the fixtures? It had just never occurred to me before. He asked me what color I wanted to use and I was like I don't know, what color do you think we can find? Then suddenly a light bulb 💡 in my brain 🧠 went off. Why don't we just paint the bulbs we have. We can use the same color I used on the garland. So we did and we love it! For years we have used icicle lights but some of our strands had burnt out. I was going to replace them but I couldn't find them anywhere! We may add some more white lights to the outside and we may not. Right now we are happy with the way it turned out. So here are some pictures. Hope it gives you some inspiration. Talk to you later!

Great idea. I worked on my front this last weekend. I had Phillip spray paint some branches white and stuck them in pots. I added greens to the pot from a real Christmas Tree I bought at Lowes and tucked into the pots, added red ornaments for a touch of color.
