The Roots of my life go back as far as my Great Grandfather.  Gardening is a gene that has been passed down in my family from generation to generation.  It serves as a metaphor for life.  Deep strong roots keep you firmly grounded in tradition, passion and happiness!

For years, I have served as a helpful role to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. In 2020,  I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our society. I founded A farm girls life! with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and it has been a wild success ever since.

A Box Of Patience!

Updated: Jan 3, 2021

Hey there my friends! How has your weekend been? I hope you got to do something fun and exciting! We are still technically quarantined but no one has shown any signs of the terrible Covid so I think we dodged it this time. All though we just saw on Facebook that 1,000 of our fellow Vernon Countians have tested positive. So to get away from depressing subjects. Friday was my birthday and I had a really great day! I got a chance to go Christmas shopping with my daughter! No, we didn't get out of town and we stuck to Orchlens and Walmart but we got a good portion of our shopping done! I've got my boys taken care of and their Dad. I ordered most of Sam's online. So Tom and his parents are all I have left and lots of wrapping! When we got home my husband was making Lasanga and Samantha made me a birthday cake (chocolate!) My Son and his new little family came over and we all had dinner together! Then Sami and Tom got me a Christmas Sign for the front porch which I love! It looks perfect out there! So I had a really good day! We have a tradition that started with my parents. They always cleaned and shampooed the carpet before the Christmas 🎄 tree went up. The other tradition was the tree went up on my birthday! Well we didn't quite manage that but this weekend we did a massive amount of cleaning! Tom shampooed the living room carpet. I worked on cleaning up the office. Something that has needed done for several years. My Dad passed in 2008 and my Mom passed in 2012. Well all of their financial records and farm records ended up in boxes in our office. Also boxes of pictures and all of Samantha's 4-H and school stuff. Scrapbooking stuff and crochet stuff and things from my Dad's service in the military. You name it, it was in there, in a box 📦 and the boxes were stacked one on top of the other. There was no room to walk and you couldn't get to any of the filing cabinets or book cases. So I attacked it this week end. I promised my boys that they were going to get to decorate their very own tree! (Partly because I'm still a floral designer at heart and I am obsessive compulsive about my Christmas 🎄) so in order to have room for their tree I had to clean up the office. I almost had forgotten what floor space looked like. I admit that I stacked a bunch of boxes in other places. I'm still going to have to go through them box by 📦 box but now I can get to the filing cabinets and book shelves to put things away! Tomorrow we are going to rearrange the office so we can put the tree in front of the window! So I hope maybe tomorrow we might finally get our trees up! I have been trying to do Christmasy things with the boys as we go along so we have time to fit it all in! This week we decorate trees, go out and gather Christmas greens and bake cookies ( that one should be interesting with my done in 2 second boys.) I have noticed that we now live in a world where we expect everything to happen instantly. With microwaves and cell phones and many other new technology we really can do things in an instant. My little guys were born into this world and they don't know anything else. I don't blame them but it is a little frustrating when I can't put a movie on fast enough or make a snack fast enough. This year for Christmas I'm asking Santa for some big boxes heaped to running over, filled with patience for me and my boys! Just an FYI and a reminder. I have a store connected to this site with lots of great gift ideas. and I have a sister site called Shop A Farm Girls Life with a variety of merchandise and just recently I designed a line of t-shirts just for Christmas!
